The Independent Floating School is a network of teachers, artists, schools, theaters, and other organizations who would like to collaborate for coordinating classes, workshops and other programs. 

It was founded in 2018 as an initiative by Lucienne McKirdy.

IFS’s mission is to create a network of solidarity between artists, professors, institutions, theaters and other venues. It is about taking teaching and learning back into our own hands, and connecting with already existing schools and organizations to provide more support and a mutually beneficial relationship between all partners and alternative forms of classes and education.
